Wait — August 18, 2013

In our lives we’re always waiting on something. Whether it’s graduating from high school or college, getting a job, getting married, having children, retiring, waiting to be healed from a sickness, or even waiting to die.

I find myself thinking about the future a lot. A friend of mine recently shared this with me:

God doesn’t reveal how our entire lives will play out, instead, He only shows us our next step. It’s not guaranteed we’ll be alive a minute from now--much less 10 years from now. Sometimes God even shows us the end result and then we wonder, “How in the world am I ever going to get there.” Wait—He’ll show us.

Jesus’ whole life, He knew He would be killed for the world’s sins. He knew what the end result would be, but what did the steps in between look like? What did Jesus do? He trusted His Father in Heaven to guide Him every step of the way — just like we are called to do.

God’s timing is perfect. What does your next step look like? For me, it’s graduating from college – after that, I have no clue. How exciting?! So while I’m waiting, I have to trust in the Lord to guide my every step -- my every day. Let God lead you -- it makes life so much more enjoyable!

Psalm 25: 4-5
Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I WAIT all the day long.

Psalm 25: 8-9
Good and upright is the Lord; therefore He instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble His way.
